Evonne Hsu was born and raised in Texas, and developed her singing skills at a young age. While in university, she was discovered by a Taiwanese agency, and so she moved to Taiwan to work on her new career as well as her Mandarin skills! Since then she has gone on to win many awards in her field and has even expanded into writing books and acting. This song is from the second album “Mystery.”

Tank - Guardian Angel

Tank (Lǚ Jiànzhōng) is a popular singer / songwriter from Taiwan. Along with the two CDs he has released himself, he has also written songs for many other singers and popular Taiwanese dramas. This particular song (also known as “My Angel”) was written as the ending theme for a Taiwanese drama called Hanazakarino Kimitachihe (Hana Kimi).

The music video for this song features Ella Chen (from the female pop group S.H.E) as well as Wu Zun (from the boy band Fahrenheit). The particular version of the video shown is unique in that it shows lyrics in Mandarin as well as the English translation.

No Chinese pop music collection would be complete without a song from Taiwanese pop star Jay Chou (Zhōu Jiélún). Discovered in 1998 in a talent search, he has since gone on to release an album each year since 2000, each of which has sold several million copies throughout Asia and the rest of the world. Chou was trained in classical music but is famous for fusing Chinese and Western music styles into one.

The song Cute Lady (”Keai Nuren” also known as “Adorable lady”) is from Chou’s first album, Jay.

This song is by the Taiwanese female pop group S.H.E (The name represents the first three characters of their English names - Selina, Hebe and Ella) from their latest album ‘Play’.
