Kirin: 我听说你要搬到新的公寓.
Raphael: 这个句子有两个生字. 第一个是

Adam: And that’s the verb “to move,” as in to move from one house to another.
Raphael: 然后，第二个生字是
Kirin: 公寓.
Adam: The literal meaning of these two characters is “public residence” and together, they form the meaning of apartment or flat.
Kirin: 我听说你要搬到新的公寓.
Adam: “I heard that you’re moving to a new apartment.”

Kirin: 对啊.
Adam: “That’s right.”
Kirin: 我现在住的这个地方太小了.

Adam: That means “to live”

Adam: That means “place.”

Adam: The place I’m living in now is too small.
Raphael: 然后他继续说

Raphael: 这个句子也很简单.
Adam: So I want to find a bigger place.
Raphael: 然后这个女生说
Kirin: 可是就你自己一个人住.
Raphael: 自己 是什么意思？
Adam: That means “self”, so it combines with 你 to form
Kirin: 你自己
Adam: which becomes “yourself.”
Kirin: 可是就你自己一个人住.
Adam: The literal meaning here is “But only you yourself one person live.” which becomes “But you live by yourself.”
Kirin: 可是就你自己一个人住.
Raphael: 然后她继续问
Kirin: 你为什么需要住那么大的地方？
Adam: Why do you need to live in such a large place?
Raphael: 然后这个男生回答
Kirin: 其实，我现在住的公寓，只有一个房间而已.
Raphael: 你们记得 其实 是什么意思吗？
Adam: That means “actually.”
Raphael: 那 房间 是什么意思？
Adam: That means “room.”
Kirin: 其实，我现在住的公寓，只有一个房间而已.
Adam: So the first part of this sentence translates to “Actually, the apartment I’m living in now only has one room.” Notice at the end of the sentence we heard
Kirin: 而已.
Adam: This is a common element added to indicate “merely” or “only.” So the speaker wants to stress that there being only one room isn’t enough.
Kirin: 其实，我现在住的公寓，只有一个房间而已.
Raphael: 然后他继续说
Kirin: 我想要找一间有厨房，客厅，还有卧室的公寓.
Raphael: 在这个句子里，我们看到三个跟家里有关係的地方. 第一个是
Kirin: 厨房.
Raphael: 这是 厨师 的厨，跟 房间 的房.
Adam: And together that forms the word for “kitchen.” Notice the measure word being used for rooms.
Kirin: 一间厨房.
Raphael: 然后第二个地方是
Kirin: 客厅.
Raphael: 是 客人 的客，跟 餐厅 的厅.
Adam: The literal meaning here is “guest hall,” which is what is used to describe a “living room.”
Kirin: 客厅.
Raphael: 然后第三个地方是
Kirin: 卧室.
Adam: And that means “bedroom.”
Kirin: 我想要找一间有厨房，客厅，还有卧室的公寓.
Adam: “I want to find an apartment that has a kitchen, living room and a bedroom.”
Raphael: 然后这个女生问
Kirin: 你为什么需要这么大的地方？
Adam: “Why do you need such a big place?”
Raphael: 然后这个男生回答
Kirin: 这样的话，朋友来的时候，会感觉比较舒服.
Raphael: 你们记得 感觉 是什么意思吗？
Adam: That means “feeling.”
Raphael: 那 舒服 是什么意思？
Adam: That means “comfortable.”

Adam: “This way, when friends come over, they will feel more comfortable.”
Raphael: 然后这个女生说

Adam: That means “to forget.”
Raphael: 那 派对 是什么意思？
Adam: That means “to have a party.”

Adam: So the literal meaning here is “Ok, next time don’t forget invite me come you move new house party.”
Kirin: 好，下次不要忘记请我来你搬新家的派对.
Adam: “So next time, don’t forget to invite me over for your house warming party.”
Raphael: 然后这个男生回答
Kirin: 我一定会记得.
Adam: “I’ll definitely remember to.”
