Raphael: 解释.
Adam: This means “to explain.”
Kirin: 对，比如说
Raphael: 我听不懂你在说什么，你可以再解释一次给我听吗?
Kirin: 好，下一个是 接下来.
Adam: This is a common expression you’ll hear in our course from here on. It means “continuing on” along the lines of “next we have.”
Kirin: 比如说
Raphael: 接下来我们要教的单字是什么?
Kirin: 我们下一个是 了解. 了解是 懂 的意思.
Adam: So it’s another way to say “understand.”
Kirin: 比如说
Raphael: 你了解我的意思吗?
Kirin: 我们下一个是 帮助. 帮助跟帮忙有一样的意思.
Adam: Both these terms refer to “help.” 帮忙 refers to help for a specific cause.
Kirin: 比如说
Raphael: 你可以帮忙我把报纸拿给爸爸吗?
Adam: So here there’s a specific instance of help he requires – “Can you give the newspaper to Dad?”
Kirin: 再给我们一个句子吧.
Raphael: 请你帮我一个忙，好吗?
Adam: The other version introduced here is
Kirin: 帮助. 比如说
Raphael: 学习中文，可以帮助你们更了解中国的文化.
Adam: Studying Chinese will better help you understand Chinese culture. So here, the help is more general, which is why we use 帮助 instead of 帮忙.
Kirin: 接下来的生字是 对. 这个字我们以前学过了，可是它有很多的意思.
Adam: Previously, we’ve seen it used in the context of “correct.” You may also see it now used in the context of “for” as in f-o-r.
Kirin: 比如说
Raphael: 我希望今天的课对你们有帮助.
Adam: “I hope today’s class is helpful to you.”
Kirin: 下一个是 很有用的. 这些字我们都学过了，你觉得是什么意思呢?
Adam: The literal meaning here is “very have use.” And that’s what is used to say “very useful.”
Raphael: 很有用的.
Kirin: 比如说
Raphael: 上网学中文是一个很有用的中文学习课程.
Adam: Yes, tell all your friends!
Kirin: 然后我们也有 很常用的. 这个 常 是平常的常，跟经常的常.
Adam: So that can be used to say “often used.”
Raphael: 常用.
Kirin: 比如说
Raphael: 下雨的时候，人们常用雨伞.
Kirin: 今天我们还有一个生字，结束.
Adam: And that means “to finish.” So let’s use that to describe the next part of today’s lesson.
