Adam: Now since we’ve heard the first part of the dialogue in our last lesson, I’ll also give you the translation at the this time.亚当：现在既然我们已听到了第一部分的对话，在我们上一次的教训吧，我也给你翻译的，在这个时候。
Kirin:麒麟： Bù bù hǎo hǎo yìsi yìsi . 。

Adam: What does this character mean?亚当：这是什么性质的意思？ The lady then responds.夫人，然后作出回应。
Kirin:麒麟： Wǒ wǒ yě yě kàn kàn bù bù dǒng dǒng . 。
Adam: I don’t understand it either.亚当：我不明白。 So that was our last lesson.所以这是我们的最后一课。 Let’s now explore the next part of the dialogue.我们现在来探讨未来对话的一部分。 At this point, I’ll set the context a little bit.在这一点上，让我讲的背景一点点。 This gentleman is a tourist somewhere in China and he is lost.此君是一个旅游某处，在中国，他是输了。 He has a map but it’s in Chinese so he can’t understand it.他有一张地图，但它在中文，所以他无法理解。 He then sees a Chinese lady and wants her help.然后，他看到华人女子，并希望她的帮助。 But she has just told him that she can’t understand it either.不过，她只是告诉他，她无法理解。 She now explains why that is.现在她解释这是为什么。

Adam: So there are a few new words to look at there.亚当：所以有几个新词来看看。 Wǒ wǒ zài zài wàiguó wàiguó . 。 We saw我们看到 wàiguó wàiguó back in lesson 29 when we talked about早在29日的教训，当我们谈论 wàiguórén wàiguórén . 。 Do you remember what the meaning of你还记得是什么意思 wàiguó wàiguó was?是吗？ It literally means “outside country” or a “foreign country.”它的字面意思是"外国" ，还是"外国" 。

Adam:亚当： Zài zài shì shì shénme shénme yìsi? yìsi ？ Shì shì “to " be 被 located”de 位于"德 yìsi yìsi . 。 So that gives us “I in a foreign country所以这使我们： "我在国外 zhǎng zhǎng dà dà . 。 So there’sa new word there所以有一个新词，有 zhǎng zhǎng which is a falling rising tone and is the verb “to grow.”这是一个属于上升基调，是动词"成长" 。
Kirin:麒麟： Wǒ wǒ zài zài wàiguó wàiguó zhǎng zhǎng dà dà . 。
Adam: The last word亚当：硬道理 dà dà we’ve seen several times before and means… “big.” So “grow big” is the term in Chinese used to mean “grow up.”我们已经看到以前多次和手段… … "大" ，所以"成长大" ，是该词在中文用来指"长大了" 。
Kirin:麒麟： Wǒ wǒ zài zài wàiguó wàiguó zhǎng zhǎng dà dà . 。
Adam: I grew up in a foreign country.亚当：我从小在国外。
Kirin:麒麟： Wǒ wǒ zài zài wàiguó wàiguó zhǎng zhǎng dà dà . 。
Adam: Now, you may have noticed that Heidi’s version was slightly different.亚当：现在，你可能已经注意到海蒂的版本略有不同。
Heidi:海蒂： Yīnwèi yīnwèi wǒ wǒ zài zài wàiguó wàiguó zhǎng zhǎng dà dà . 。
Adam: She added the word亚当：她补充字 yīnwèi yīnwèi to the front.到了前线。 Yīnwèi yīnwèi shì shì shénme shénme yìsi? yìsi ？ Shì shì “because” " ，因为" de 德 yìsi yìsi . 。 So she’s saying “Because I grew up in a foreign country.”所以她的话说： "因为我生长在一个外国的国家" 。
Heidi:海蒂： Yīnwèi yīnwèi wǒ wǒ zài zài wàiguó wàiguó zhǎng zhǎng dà dà . 。
Adam: The lady then adds:亚当：夫人，然后说：
Kirin:麒麟： Suǒyǐ suǒyǐ wǒ wǒ Zhōngwén zhōngwén bú bú tài tài hǎo hǎo . 。
Adam: So there’s another new important word.亚当：那么还有一个新的重要的一句话。 Suǒyǐ suǒyǐ . 。 That’s two falling rising tones and together means “so” or “therefore.”这两个属于上升声调和在一起，就是"使"或"所以" 。
Kirin:麒麟： Suǒyǐ suǒyǐ wǒ wǒ Zhōngwén zhōngwén bú bú tài tài hǎo hǎo . 。
Adam: Hopefully you understand the last part “my Chinese not too good”亚当：我希望你了解的最后部分， "我的中文不是太好"
Kirin:麒麟： Suǒyǐ suǒyǐ wǒ wǒ Zhōngwén zhōngwén bú bú tài tài hǎo hǎo . 。
Adam: So the complete sentence is “I grew up overseas so my Chinese isn’t very good.”亚当：所以，完整的一句话是： "我长大海外，所以我的中文不太好" 。
Kirin:麒麟： Wǒ wǒ zài zài wàiguó wàiguó zhǎng zhǎng dà dà suǒyǐ suǒyǐ wǒ wǒ Zhōngwén zhōngwén bú bú tài tài hǎo hǎo . 。
Heidi:海蒂： Ràng ràng wǒmen wǒmen zài zài tīng tīng yícì yícì jīntiānde jīntiānde duìhuà duìhuà . 。 Bìng bìng gēn gēn Kirin 麒麟 shuō shuō . 。
Kirin:麒麟： Bù bù hǎo hǎo yìsi yìsi . 。
Wǒ wǒ mílù mílù le 乐 . 。
Wǒ wǒ yǒu yǒu dìtú dìtú . 。
Kěshì kěshì wǒ wǒ kàn kàn bù bù dǒng dǒng . 。
Zhège zhège zì zì shì shì shénme shénme yìsi? yìsi ？

Adam: Now just another quick note about Heidi’s use of亚当：现在刚好是另一个快速注约海蒂的使用 yīnwèi yīnwèi . 。 In English we wouldn’t use “because” and “so” in the same sentence but in Chinese it’sa very common pattern在英语，我们不会用" ，因为"和"所以"在同一句话，但在中国这是很普遍的模式 Yīnwèi yīnwèi … suǒyǐ suǒyǐ . 。
Heidi:海蒂： Yīnwèi yīnwèi wǒ wǒ zài zài wàiguó wàiguó zhǎng zhǎng dà dà suǒyǐ suǒyǐ wǒ wǒ Zhōngwén zhōngwén bú bú tài tài hǎo hǎo . 。
