亚当: 行,那么确定地那里一些新的词。 Kirin现在将读对话的每条线为我们。 请重覆在她以后。
Kirin : Xiānshēng, nǐmen yǒu fángjiān ma ?
Yǒu, jǐ wèi ?
Wǒmen liǎngge rén yào zhù yījiān fángjiān .
Qǐng gěi wǒ kàn yīxià nǐde hùzhào .
Kěyǐ yòng xìnyòngkǎ ma ?
Dāngrán kěyǐ .
亚当: 好我们为您现在将打破它下来一行行。 在这应该如此是好回顾之前,我们做了最初的少数线。
Kirin : Xiānshēng, nǐmen yǒu fángjiān ma ?
亚当: 先生,您是否有任何房间可用?
亚当: 是我们。 您多少有没有? 注意这里有二个句子。 一个是 yǒu 并且秒钟是 jǐ wèi . 如果我们说它如下,它将有一个不同的意思:
亚当: Now here there’s only one sentence asking “have how many people?” So he’s just asking how many people there are and he hasn’t answered the question of whether there are any rooms available. The woman then says:
Kirin: Wǒmen liǎngge rén yào zhù yījiān fángjiān .
Adam: “The two of us would like to rent one room.” Now that was our dialogue from last time. Let’s continue with the rest of the dialogue for today’s lesson.
Kirin: Qǐng gěi wǒ kàn yīxià nǐde hùzhào .
Adam: Ah, so some new words here. Let’s start with the first part which we should know. Qǐng gěi wǒ . What does the verb gěi mean? It means “to give.” So he’s asking “Please give me.” We then have a new verb kàn . That’s a falling tone and means “to look.” It was actually one of the examples used by Kirin in our very first lesson on tones. Now the literal translation may not make much sense in English – “give me look” – but it’s a very popular construction in Chinese. Gěi wǒ kàn means “Please give it to me so I can look at it” or “Please show me.” Chinese is a very efficient language so that long phrase is reduced simply to gěi wǒ kàn .
Kirin: Qǐng gěi wǒ kàn yīxià .
Adam: The next word we’ve seen before yīxià . We saw it before in the phrase:
Kirin: Qǐng nǐ zìwǒ jièshào yīxià .
Adam: What does yīxià mean? It means “a moment.” The phrase we just heard meant “Please take a moment to introduce yourself.”
Kirin: Qǐng nǐ zìwǒ jièshào yīxià .
Adam: So the phrase:
Adam: …literally means “Please give me look a moment” which translates to “Please let me take a quick look at it.”
Kirin: Qǐng gěi wǒ kàn yīxià nǐde hùzhào .
Adam: The last couple of words are nǐde hùzhào . Nǐde means “your” and hùzhào is two falling tones. It’s the word for “passport.” So “Please, can I take a quick look at your passport.”
Kirin: Qǐng gěi wǒ kàn yīxià nǐde hùzhào .
Adam: The Premium notes for this lesson show examples of using gěi and yīxià to form other sentences so be sure to take a look at them. The woman then asks the man:
Kirin: Kěyǐ yòng xìnyòngkǎ ma?
Adam: What does the verb yòng mean? It means “to use.” So kěyǐ yòng – “Can I use.” We then have xìnyòngkǎ . That’s two falling tones and a falling rising tone. Xìn refers to “credit” in this case, yòng we know means “to use” and kǎ means “card.” So “credit that you can use in a card.” So she’s asking “Can we use a credit card?”
Kirin: Kěyǐ yòng xìnyòngkǎ ma?
Adam: To which the man replies:
Adam: So the first two words there dāngrán are a high tone and a rising tone and means “of course.” So “of course you can use it.”
Adam: So that’s our dialogue for today. Kirin will repeat each line for us again. Please repeat after her.
Kirin: Xiānshēng, nǐmen yǒu fángjiān ma?
Yǒu, jǐ wèi?
Wǒmen liǎngge rén yào zhù yījiān fángjiān .
Qǐng gěi wǒ kàn yīxià nǐde hùzhào .
Kěyǐ yòng xìnyòngkǎ ma?
Dāngrán kěyǐ .
Adam: Great, and we’ll wrap up by listening to Ray and Heidi again.
Heidi: Xiānshēng, nǐmen yǒu fángjiān ma?
Ray: Yǒu . Qǐngwèn yǒu jǐ wèi?
Heidi: Wǒmen liǎngge rén yào zhù yījiān fángjiān .
Ray: Qǐng gěi wǒ kàn yīxià nǐde hùzhào
Heidi: Kěyǐ yòng xìnyòngkǎ ma?
Ray: Dāngrán kěyǐ .
Adam: Alright, there are plenty of ways to dissect today’s material in the Premium section of our website ChineseLearnOnline.com so be sure to do that before our next lesson.
Kirin: Xièxie dàjiā .
