Hosts: Adam Menon / Kirin Yang主办单位:亚当梅农/杨麒麟

Adam:亚当: Dàjiā dàjiā hǎo hǎo . shì shì Adam 亚当 .

Kirin:麒麟: Dàjiā dàjiā hǎo hǎo . shì shì Kirin 麒麟 .

Adam: Welcome to lesson 4 of ChineseLearnOnline.com.亚当:欢迎第四课的chineselearnonline.com 。 Today we’re going to continue where we left off in lesson three talking about countries, nationalities and their languages.今天我们将继续我们的不放过,在第三课谈论国家,民族和自己的语言。 We’re now going to try and put together what we know so far.现在,我们正在去尝试,并把我们所知道的,所以至今。 We know how to say “I am” and we know how to say the names of a few countries.我们知道如何去说"我" ,我们也知道怎么说的名字少数几个国家。 So with that in mind, how would you say “I am American”?所以,这一点,你会如何说, "我是美国人" ?

Kirin:麒麟: shì shì Měiguórén měiguórén .

Adam: Good, I hope you got that right.亚当:好,我希望你有这个权利。 Let’s try another one.让我们试试另一种之一。 How would you say “Are you Chinese?”你怎么说, "你是中国人吗? "

Kirin:麒麟: shì shì Zhōngguórén zhōngguórén ma? 马?

Adam: As you can see, adding the亚当:你可以看到,加入 ma at the end turns a statement into a question.在去年底轮流一份声明中成为一个问题。 Today, we’re going to try and answer some yes or no questions.今天,我们要去尝试,并回答一些赞成或反对的问题。 Now one big difference in Chinese is that there is no definitive word for ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ so you have to follow a particular syntax when answering such questions.现在一个很大的不同,在中国,是不会有确切的词'是'或'不' ,所以,你必须走一条特定的语法时,在回答这类问题。 Now if you wanted to answer in the affirmative as in “Yes, I am Chinese,” you would reply with:现在,如果你想要的答案是肯定的那样: "不错,我是中国人" ,你要回答:

Kirin:麒麟: Shì, shì , shì shì Zhōngguórén zhōngguórén .

Adam: Now, there are no new words there as you can see.亚当:到目前为止,还没有新词,因为你可以看到。 We reply in affirmative by restating the verb in question – in this case it’s the verb “to be” or我们在答复中肯定重申动词问题-在这种情况下,它的动词"要"或 shì shì . So the reply here means “Yes, I am Chinese.” Let’s try another one.如此的答复,在这里是指: "不错,我是中国人"让我们试试另一种之一。 Ask if I am Canadian.请问如果我是加拿大人。

Kirin:麒麟: shì shì Jiānádàrén jiānádàrén ma? 马?

Adam: So if you wanted to reply ‘yes,’ you would say:亚当:因此,如果你想回答'是' ,你会说:

Kirin:麒麟: Shì, shì , shì shì Jiānádàrén jiānádàrén .

Adam: Now, we’ll learn the word used for the negative which is quite simply亚当:现在,我们将学习用的字眼为负,这是很简单

Kirin:麒麟:

Adam: That’sa falling tone, although sometimes it’s turns into a rising tone depending on where it’s used.亚当: that'sa下降,语气平和,虽然有时它的演变成不断上升的语调取决于它的使用。

Kirin:麒麟:

Adam: By adding亚当:加入 in front of a verb, you negate it.在前面的动词,你否定它。 So let’s ask the question “Are you British?”所以让我们发问: "你的英国" ?

Kirin:麒麟: shì shì Yīngguórén yīngguórén ma? 马?

Adam: To reply in the negative we’d say:亚当:回答是否定的,我们宁愿说:

Kirin:麒麟: shì shì . shì shì Yīngguórén yīngguórén .

Adam: On our website, in the Premium lesson notes for亚当:在我们的网站上,在保费的教训说明 lesson 4第四课 you’ll find several more examples using this structure.您会发现有若干例子,使用这种结构。 Let’s now learn a couple of new verbs.让我们现在知道,一两件新式动词。 The first one is…第一个是…

Kirin:麒麟: Huì huì

Adam: This is a falling tone.亚当:这是一个下降的语调。

Kirin:麒麟: Huì huì

Adam: Now the verb亚当:现在动词 huì huì means “to be able to do something.” We’ll use it in a moment. "的手段,能够做一些事, "我们就用它在一刹那间。 The other verb I want to introduce is:其他动词,我想介绍的是:

Kirin:麒麟: Shuō shuō

Adam: This is a high tone.亚当:这是一个高的语调。

Kirin:麒麟: Shuō shuō

Adam: The verb亚当:动词 shuō shuō means “to speak.” So putting these two verbs together, we get:意思是"说话" ,所以使这两个动词在一起的,我们可以:

Kirin:麒麟: Huì huì shuō shuō

Adam: …which means “to be able to speak.” So with that in mind, can you guess what this next question means?亚当: … …这意味着" ,以能讲" ,所以在这方面,你们猜是什么,这下一个问题,就是?

Kirin:麒麟: huì huì shuō shuō Zhōngwén zhōngwén ma? 马?

Adam: Again?亚当:再次?

Kirin:麒麟: huì huì shuō shuō Zhōngwén zhōngwén ma? 马?

Adam: So by the亚当:那么,由 ma at the end, we know that it’sa question – and in fact the question translates to “Can you speak Chinese?” Now knowing what we know about how we answer such questions how would you answer that question in the affirmative?在去年底,我们知道,这是问题-上和事实上的问题,转化为"你能说中文吗? " ,现在知道什么,我们知道我们如何解决这些问题,你会如何回答这个问题是肯定的吗?

Kirin:麒麟: Huì huì . huì huì shuō shuō Zhōngwén zhōngwén .

Adam: And how would you reply “No, I can’t speak Chinese”?亚当:和,你会如何回答"不,我不会讲中文" ?

Kirin:麒麟: huì huì . huì huì shuō shuō Zhōngwén zhōngwén .

Adam: Now perhaps as beginners, your current answer to the question of “Can you speak Chinese?” may be ‘no,’ but we hope to change that over time.亚当:现在也许作为初学者,你的当前问题的答案, "你能说中文吗? "可能是'不' ,但我们希望改变这种状况随着时间的推移。 So to build up your confidence, perhaps you would like to answer with “I can speak a little.” How do we say “a little”?所以要建立自己的信心,也许你会回答"我可以说几句, "我们如何说, "一小" ?

Kirin:麒麟: Yīdiǎn yīdiǎn

Adam: That’sa high tone followed by a falling rising tone.亚当: that'sa高调子后,有一个属于上升语调。

Kirin:麒麟: Yīdiǎn yīdiǎn

Adam: So how would you say “I can speak a little”?亚当:那么,你会如何说: "我可以讲了一点" ?

Kirin:麒麟: huì huì shuō shuō yīdiǎn yīdiǎn .

Adam: Great, so let’s do some practice with the vocabulary we have learned.亚当:伟大的,让我们一起做一些实践与词汇,我们的经验教训。 First, I’ll ask you to translate the following from English to Chinese.首先,我要请你翻译以下从英文译成中文。 Please try this by yourself before listening to the answer.请试试这个,你以前听过的答案。

Are you Australian?你是澳洲?

Kirin:麒麟: shì shì Àozhōurén àozhōurén ma? 马?

Adam: No, I am American.亚当:不,我是美国人。

Kirin:麒麟: shì shì , shì shì Měiguórén měiguórén .

Adam: Can you speak French?亚当:你能讲法语吗?

Kirin:麒麟: huì huì shuō shuō Fàwén fàwén ma? 马?

Adam: No I can’t.亚当:不,我不能这样做。 I can speak English.我可以讲英语。

Kirin:麒麟: huì huì . huì huì shuō shuō Yīngwén yīngwén .

Adam: Good, we’ll now teach the possessive particle.亚当:好的,我们就要教导现在占有粒子。 We know how to say ‘I’:我们知道如何说'我' :

Kirin:麒麟:

Adam: How do we say ‘my’?亚当:我们如何说'我的'吗?

Kirin:麒麟: Wǒde wǒde

Adam: So you can see how easy that is.亚当:所以你可以看到如何容易。 Just add the neutral tone刚刚加入轻声 de and you get the possessive.你会得到占有。 Similarly, to say ‘your’ we can say:同样地,说'你的' ,我们可以这样说:

Kirin:麒麟: Nǐde nǐde

Adam: Good, I think you can see how easy that is and how it extends to other pronouns.亚当:好的,但我认为你可以看到如何容易,以及它如何延伸到其他代词。 A more detailed list can be found in the lesson notes for Lesson 4 on our website.更详细的名单可以发现,在课笔记,为第四课在我们的网站上。 Now based on what you’ve learned, what do you think the following sentence means?现在基于什么,你学会了,您怎么看下列句子意思呢?

Kirin:麒麟: Zhōngwén zhōngwén shuō shuō de hěn hěn hǎo hǎo .

Adam: This one may be a little tricky but if you look at the literal translation you might figure it out.亚当:这其中可能有少许取巧,但如果你在看那个直译的,你可能会去揣摩。 “You Chinese speak’s very good.” Basically, that means “Your Chinese is very good.” You could use that same construction to tell someone their English was very good too. "你们中国人讲的非常好" ,基本上,这意味着"你的中文非常好, "你可以用同样的施工告诉别人自己的英语非常好。

While it is not our goal to go into too much detail on the grammar usage in Chinese, the basic reason why we say “you Chinese” here and not “your Chinese” is that when you have multiple occurrences of虽然它不是我们的目标是进入太多细节上的语法用法,在中国,根本原因就在于此,我们说: "你们中国人" ,在这里,而不是"你是中国人" ,就是当你有多重的发生 de in a sentence, the first ones are sometimes omitted.在量刑时,首先有时省略。 As an example in English, I could say “Kirin’s brother’s cat” whereas in Chinese that might become “Kirin brother’s cat.” Since there is already a作为一个例子,在英语,我可以说, "麒麟的兄弟猫" ,而在中国可能成为"麒麟哥哥的猫" ,由于已经是一个 de after shuō shuō , it isn’t used after ,它是没有用后 .

Again our whole manner of teaching on this site is similar to how we learn our native language by just imitating the speech we hear around us and picking up the grammar as we go along.再次是我们整个地的教学关于这个站点是相似,我们如何了解我们的母语只是模仿讲话,我们听到在我们周围,并加快文法,因为我们一起走。

Now, just as a culture note, I’ve noticed that even if you just say something simple in Chinese, such as现在,正如一位文化注意到,我已经注意到,即使你只是说一些简单的中文,如 xièxie xièxie , they tend to get very excited and will often compliment your Chinese in the above manner. ,他们往往非常激动,并会常常称赞你的中文,在上述方式。 So Kirin if this happens, as it inevitably will if you keep following along in our podcast, what’s the best way to answer?所以麒麟如果这种情况发生,因为这将不可避免地,如果你继续沿后,在我们的播客的最佳方法是什么回答?

Kirin: I think you can just say thank you.麒麟:我想你只能说谢谢。 Xièxie xièxie .

Adam: Great.亚当:伟大的。 Now let’s look at if you just wanted to tell someone “I’m sorry, my Chinese isn’t very good.” First, we need the word for “I’m sorry.” It’s actually the same word they use for “excuse me.” How do we say that, Kirin?现在让我们看看,如果你只是想告诉别人: "我很抱歉,我的中文不是很好, "首先,我们必须从这个词为: "我很抱歉" ,它实际上是同一个词,他们使用"对不起" ,如何做,我们说,麒麟?

Kirin:麒麟: Duìbuqǐ duìbuqǐ .

Adam: So it’s actually three words.亚当:所以它实际上是3个字。 The first two use falling tones and the last word uses a falling rising tone.前两项使用降调与硬道理用途闹翻上升语调。 Let’s hear it again.让我们听一遍。

Kirin:麒麟: Duìbuqǐ duìbuqǐ .

Adam: So that means “I’m sorry” or “excuse me.”亚当:这意味着: "我很抱歉"或"对不起" 。

Now to say “My Chinese isn’t good,” you actually have all the vocabulary necessary to say that.现在说: "我的中文不好, "你实际上已全部词汇,必须说的。 Let’s see if we can put it together.让我们来看看,如果我们可以把它在一起。

Kirin:麒麟: Zhōngwén zhōngwén shuō shuō de hǎo hǎo .

Adam: Again.亚当:再次。

Kirin:麒麟: Zhōngwén zhōngwén shuō shuō de hǎo hǎo .

Adam: Great, so lots of new words and phrases today.亚当:伟大的,所以很多新的单词和短语。 That brings us to an end to lesson four of ChineseLearnOnline.com.这既给我们带来了尽头,以教训四个chineselearnonline.com 。 Don’t worry – we’ll be reviewing it all in future lessons.不用担心-我们将回顾这一切,在未来的教训。 Xièxiè xièxiè jiā jiā .
