Adam: The second one was the rising tone.亚当:第二次是上升的语调。
Adam: We then had the falling rising tone.亚当:我们当时有下降上升语调。
Adam: And lastly we had the falling tone.亚当:最后我们有下降的语调。
Adam: Great, now that we’ve mastered our tones, let’s move on to some useful vocabulary.亚当:伟大的,现在,我们已掌握了我们的铃声,让我们讨论了一些有用的词汇。

Now I’m sure the first thing that anybody wants to know when learning a new language is how to say ‘hello.’ So how do you say ‘hello’ in Chinese, Kirin?现在我敢肯定的第一件事,任何人想要知道什么时候学习一门新的语言是如何说'你好' ,所以你怎么说'你好' ,在中国,麒麟?
Adam: Great, now just a note on how we do things around here.亚当:伟大的,现在刚好是一份关于如何去做的事情靠近这里。 You’ll notice a lot of pauses during my conversation with Kirin – especially after she pronounces new words or when I ask her questions.你会发现很多停顿了一下,在我的谈话,与日本麒麟公司-尤其是当她判决新词或当我问她的问题。 This is done on purpose to get you, our listener, involved.这样做的目的,就得到你,我们的听众参与。 I highly encourage you to try and pick out the tones she is using and try to repeat them after her.我非常鼓励你尝试和挑选出声调,她是用尽量重复她。 As well, when I ask Kirin a question there will usually be a pause in there so you the listener can try and come up with the answer first before she does.而且,当我问麒麟一项问题,通常会稍作停顿,在有那么你的听众可以尝试,并制订答案先她。 As we said in our previous lesson, if you can sound out the words out aloud, please do so and if not, then please try and do so in your head.正如我们在以前的教训,如果你能在试探中讲出了自言自语,请这样做,如果没有的话,那么请你尝试这样做,在你的头上。 So again to say ‘hello’ in Chinese, there are two words here and two tones – listen and try to distinguish what tones they are.所以再次说'你好' ,在中国人,有两个词在这里和两个色调-倾听,并试图区分什么声调他们的影响。 So again, Kirin – ‘hello.’再次,麒麟-'你好'
Adam: Ok, so the first word was a falling rising tone and the second word was also a falling rising tone.亚当:好吧,我们就这样第一个字是属于上升的语调和第二个字也呈下降上升语调。
Adam: Let’s look at the literal meaning.亚当:让我们看看在字面上的意思。 The该 nǐ nǐ means ‘you.’ And the指'你'和 hǎo hǎo means ‘good.’ So when you say手段'好' ,所以当你说 nǐ nǐ hǎo hǎo in Chinese, you’re actually wishing someone “you good.” Isn’t that interesting?在中国,你实际上是希望有人"你们好" ,是不是有意思吗? So there are two important words we’ve learned today - the word for ‘you’ -所以有两个重要的话,我们学会了今天-这个词对'你' - nǐ nǐ and the word for ‘good’和字为『良好』 hǎo hǎo and if you put them together you get而如果你把它们放在一起,你得到 nǐ nǐ hǎo hǎo which means ‘hello!’ You’ll find that a lot in Chinese.这意味着'你好' ,你会发现很多中文。 When common words are put together they can represent very different meanings and that’s what we hope to teach you during our podcast lessons.当常用词放在一起,他们可以代表非常不同的意义,这正是我们所希望教导您在我们的podcast教训。 As well, we find that breaking down the meanings of individual words helps in learning so you understand how phrases are constructed in Chinese.同时,我们发现,打破了含义个人说了算,有助于学习,让您了解如何句子兴建中的中国人。
Now,现在, hǎo hǎo is a very useful word in Chinese because it is also used in the context of ‘ok.’ So many times in conversation you’ll hear people reply with是一个非常有用的字,中文,因为它也可以用来语境中的'好'太多次了,在交谈中,你会经常听到人们答复 hǎo hǎo meaning ‘ok.’意思'好吧。
Shall we continue, Kirin?我们应否继续下去,麒麟?
Kirin:麒麟: Hǎo hǎo . 。
Adam: Great.亚当:伟大的。 As we teach new vocabulary, we’ll try and use them in context to get you in the habit or learning its usage.正如我们教新的词汇,我们将试图利用他们的背景让你在习惯或学习其用法。 In future lessons, if you hear us use a word you’re not familiar with, you can check on our website in the在未来的教训,如果你听到我们用一个词你不熟悉,你可以检查我们的网站,在 Course outline课程大纲 section, where you can hunt down the word in the current lesson and find out which lesson it was first introduced in. Our goal is to make sure that every Chinese word we use here is taught and understood, so this way we hope you won’t be left behind.节,在那里你可以追捕这个词在目前的教训,并找出其中的教训,这是第一次引入英寸,我们的目标是要确保每一个中国字,我们在这里使用的是教和理解,所以这样,我们希望你们获得' T是掉队。 Ok?好吧?
Kirin:麒麟: Hǎo hǎo . 。
Adam:亚当: Hǎo hǎo . 。 Now when someone says现在,当有人说: Nǐ nǐ hǎo hǎo to you, what is the standard response?为了你,什么是标准的反应如何?
Adam: So basically you just repeat it back to them as you would if they were saying ‘hello’ to you.亚当:所以基本上你只是重复它还给他们,因为你,如果他们说'你好'给你。 So let’s try that.让我们一起尝试。
Adam:亚当: Nǐ nǐ hǎo hǎo . 。 Just like that – excellent.就像-出色。 Let’s move on to “How are you?” How would you ask that?让我们讨论" ,你如何呢? " ,你会如何要求?
Kirin:麒麟: Nǐ nǐ hǎo hǎo ma? 马?
Adam: Now you’ll notice that that’s quite similar to saying ‘hello’ except we’ve added a亚当:现在,你会发现这是十分类似,说'你好' ,除非我们增加了 ma 马 at the end.在去年底。
Kirin:麒麟: Nǐ nǐ hǎo hǎo ma? 马?
Adam: Now亚当:现在 ma 马 actually doesn’t have a tone – it’s what we call a neutral tone.其实没有一个口气-这就是我们所谓的一个中性的语调。 It’s what we use to turn a statement into a question.这就是我们使用把一份声明中成为一个问题。 So if the literal translation of所以,如果直译的 Nǐ nǐ hǎo hǎo means “you good,”意思是"你们好" Nǐ nǐ hǎo hǎo ma 马 is a question so it’s asking “Are you good?” And that’s what is used to ask “How are you?”.是一个问题,所以它的问: "你是好? " ,并说的是什么用来问"怎么是你? " 。
Kirin:麒麟: Nǐ nǐ hǎo hǎo ma? 马?
Adam: Now a culture note here - whereas in English we often ask someone “How are you?” or “How are you doing?” quite often and quite casually, in Chinese亚当:现在的文化在这里-而在英语,我们常问别人"怎么是你? "或"你怎么做" ?往往有相当随便,在中文 Nǐ nǐ hǎo hǎo ma? 马? is only used when you really want to know how someone is doing.仅用于当你真的想知道如何有人在做。 Usually it’s when you meet someone you haven’t seen in a long time.通常它的,当你与某人,你有没有看到,在很长的时间。 Now getting back to my usage of现在回到我的用法 hǎo hǎo to mean ‘ok,’ I could also use意思是'好吧, '我也能使用 hǎo hǎo ma? 马? to mean ‘ok?’ as in asking for your approval or agreement.意思是'好吗' ,因为在要求你的批准或同意。 So Kirin if I ask you所以麒麟,如果我问你 hǎo hǎo ma? 马? what would you say?你会怎样说?
Kirin:麒麟: Hǎo hǎo . 。
Adam: Good, she agrees.亚当:好,她同意了。 Now let’s continue.现在让我们继续下去。 What is the standard response to什么是标准的回应 Nǐ nǐ hǎo hǎo ma? 马?
Kirin:麒麟: Wǒ wǒ hěn hěn hǎo hǎo . 。
Adam:亚当: Hǎo hǎo , so we have a couple of new words here that we can look at. ,所以我们有一对夫妇的新词在这里,我们可以看看。 The first one is第一个是 wǒ wǒ . 。 That’s also a falling rising tone.这也是一种属于上升语调。 Wǒ wǒ means ‘I’ or ‘me.’意味着'我'或'我'
The next one is下一个 hěn hěn which is also a falling rising tone.这也是属于上升的语调。 Hěn hěn means ‘very,’手段'非常'
although it has a less intense meaning than the ‘very’ in English so you tend to use it a lot more often in Chinese than you would use ‘very’ in English.虽然它有那么激烈的意义比『非常』在英语,让您倾向于使用了许多更经常地在中国比你会用'非常'英语。 The last word which we’ve seen before is硬道理,而我们已经看到面前的是 hǎo hǎo which means ‘good.’这意味着『良好。
So putting those three words together所以把那三个词在一起 wǒ wǒ hěn hěn hǎo hǎo , we get… “I’m very good.” ,我们从中获得了… … "我非常好" 。
Kirin:麒麟: Wǒ wǒ hěn hěn hǎo hǎo . 。
Adam: So actually if you can get past the difference in tones between Chinese and English, the actual syntax and grammar is a lot simpler in Chinese than it is in English.亚当:所以其实如果你能得到过去的区别在声调之间的中文和英文,但实际句法和语法变得简单许多,在中国比在英语。 Once you figure out this basic syntax, it’s a lot easier to translate phrases to other contexts.一旦你计算出这个基本语法,这是很多容易翻译句子其他场合。 For example we now know the word for ‘you’ which is…比如我们现在知道这个词为'你' ,这是…
Kirin:麒麟: Nǐ nǐ . 。
Adam: We also know ‘I’:亚当:我们也知道'我' :
Kirin:麒麟: Wǒ wǒ . 。
Adam: How about the word for ‘he’ or ‘she’?亚当:如何对Word的'他'或'她'吗?
Kirin:麒麟: Tā tā . 。
Adam: Again…亚当:再次…
Kirin:麒麟: Tā tā . 。
Adam: Now our listeners should recognize that as a high tone.亚当:现在,我们的听众应该认识到,作为一项高声调。 The word for ‘he’ and ‘she’ is the same in Chinese so you have to distinguish between male and female from the context.字为'他'和'她'是一样的中文,所以你要区分男性和女性从上下文中。 If I was pointing at a man when I said假如我是指向一名男子,当我说: tā tā , you’d know I mean ‘he’ while if I was pointing at a woman you’d know that I meant ‘she.’ So knowing what we’ve learned so far, I’ll ask our listeners to play along. ,你都知道我的意思是'他' ,而如果我是指着一女,你知道我的意思是'她' ,所以知道什么,我们深入了解到,直至目前为止,我会要求我们的听众发挥沿。 How would you ask “How is he?”你怎么来问"怎么是他" ?
Kirin:麒麟: Tā tā hǎo hǎo ma? 马?
Adam: Great, and how would you say “He is great” or “He is very good”?亚当:伟大,你会如何说, "他是伟大的"或者"他是非常好的" ?
Kirin:麒麟: Tā tā hěn hěn hǎo hǎo . 。
Adam:亚当: Hǎo hǎo . 。 So let’s move along to the word for ‘thanks.’ How do you say ‘thanks’?所以让我们沿着这一名词为'谢谢' ,可你怎么说'谢谢'吗?
Kirin:麒麟: Xièxie xièxie . 。
Adam: So that’s the same word said twice, both falling tones meaning ‘thanks.’亚当:这样的同一个词说了两次,都属于声调意义'感谢。
Kirin:麒麟: Xièxie xièxie . 。
Adam: Now depending on where you are, you may hear the second word pronounced with a neutral tone giving us亚当:现在取决于你身在何处,你都可以听到第二个单词的发音与一个中性的语调给我们 xièxie xièxie , rather than ,而不是 xièxiè xièxiè . 。 Additionally, you can also say a more polite另外,你也可以说,一个更有礼貌 xièxie xièxie nǐ nǐ to mean “thank you” rather than just意思是"谢谢你" ,而不是只 xièxie xièxie meaning ‘thanks’.意思'谢谢' 。 Hope you got all that!希望你的一切!
Let’s end our show today by teaching how to say ‘goodbye.’ How do you say ‘goodbye,’ Kirin?让我们结束我们的节目,今天由教学怎么说'再见' ,可你怎么说'再见'麒麟?
Kirin:麒麟: Zàijiàn zàijiàn . 。
Adam: Again?亚当:再次?
Kirin:麒麟: Zàijiàn zàijiàn . 。
Adam: Alright so I’ll ask our listeners if they can figure out the tones on those two words.亚当:好吧,所以我会要求我们的听众,如果他们能计算出声调就这两个词。 They are both…falling tones.他们都是…降声调。 The literal meaning for the two words is字面意思为两个词是 zài zài meaning ‘again’ and意思'再' jiàn jiàn meaning ‘meet,’ so “again meet,” kind of like “See you again.”意思'符合' " ,再次见面, "有点像"再见" 。
Kirin:麒麟: Zàijiàn zàijiàn . 。
Adam: Let’s wrap up with a review of all the vocabulary we’ve learned today.亚当:让我们总结与检讨所有词汇,我们学会了今天。 So we’ll start with ‘hello.’因此,我们也将开始与'你好'
Adam: How are you?亚当:你如何?
Kirin:麒麟: Nǐ nǐ hǎo hǎo ma? 马?
Adam: I’m great.亚当:我很伟大。
Kirin:麒麟: Wǒ wǒ hěn hěn hǎo hǎo . 。
Adam: Thanks.亚当:感谢。
Kirin:麒麟: Xièxie xièxie . 。
Adam: Goodbye.亚当:再见。
Kirin:麒麟: Zàijiàn zàijiàn . 。
Adam: Great, so that wraps up today’s lesson.亚当:伟大的,因此结束了今天的教训。 I hope you learned something there.我希望你们学到的东西。 We’ll be back again next time with another lesson, so see you then!我们明年会杀回来再下一次与另一个教训,所以见,你再来!
Kirin:麒麟: Zàijiàn zàijiàn . 。
