I cannot figure out what word you guys are saying: rang wo men xian ting yi ci jin tian zheng chang _________ de dui hua. It sounds like yu sou but I can’t find that in any dictionary. As far as I can tell, this is the first time it’s used in the lessons and there’s no explanation. Please help.

Hi Rich,
It’s yǔsù, and was first taught in lesson 103. The first character comes from the word for spoken language - yǔyán, while the second comes from the word for speed - sùdù. So together it refers to the speed at which the language is spoken. We use this word in lessons that have dialogues (and later lessons that have articles) - where we first listen to the dialogue at a normal speed, and later at a slower speed.
The previous few lessons here didn’t have dialogues, which is why you didn’t see this word. However we’ve used it before that - the next lesson before this was 120. From that lesson down to 103, most lessons (if not all) should have that word used in them.
