Hi, I have a question on the structure of this course. I believe the first time the conversation is introduced in Chinese it is supposed to be at “normal speed” (i.e. when Jen and Bing speak). Is this actually normal speed? It doesn’t seem to be that fast (which is good for me). The speech in the video is much quicker. I try to save the video for last and see if I can understand it. Oftentimes, I have to listen to the video multiple times to understand it, but this seems to be decreasing (which I take as a good sign). Of course, I don’t mind watching the video multiple times, since the female lead is very attractive.

Hi Anthony,
I wouldn’t consider that normal speed. If you actually listen to two native speakers talking to each other, it’s done at a much faster speed. You will notice the speech getting quicker in later lessons though.
I thought it was important to know what normal speed sounds like, which is what the videos are meant for, so I’m glad you enjoy them! The speakers in the videos (for these lessons anyway) are also different from the speakers in the lesson, so this way you’ll get a feel for the dialogue from a different point of view too.
