Hi Adam,
In the premium podcast there s a sentence where I get a bit mixed up:
Wo3 yao4 shang4ban3 - I m going to work
Can I also say :
wo3 yao4 qu4 shang4ban3, does it mean the same?Or whats the difference?
And Anotherone:
Wo3 hui4 wan3 yi1dian3 qu4 - I will go later
How do I say then I can go later?
Thanks
Sandra

Hi Sandra,
Good question. There is a slight difference between the two:
Wo3 yao4 shang4ban3 actually means “I have to work”
while
Wo3 yao4 qu4 shang4ban3 means “I have to go to work”.
They can be used in a variety of situations. So if someone asks you “Ni3 yao4 qu4 na3li3?” you would probably reply with “Wo3 yao4 qu4 shang4ban3″.
However if someone asked “Ni3 jin1wan3 yao4 zuo4 shen2me?” (What are you doing tonight?) you could reply with “Wo3 yao4 shang4ban3″.
Regarding your second question, does this help?
Wo3 hui4 wan3 yi1dian3 qu4 - I will go later
Wo3 ke3yi3 wan3 yi1dian3 qu4 - I can go later.

Hello.
I don’t know how nobody noticed, but
zuǒ yòu is missing from line 2, and
qǐ chuáng tài wǎn in text
is tài wǎn qǐ chuáng in podcast.
Thank you for these lessons, I am having fun learning Chinese! (who would have thought that
)

Hi Griselda,
Thanks for pointing this out. It’s been fixed now!
