Hello,
First, thank you very much for making these lessons available; I have found them exceptionally useful. Especially useful has been the pinyin dialogue information which has been presented both in the lyric and the description areas. Unfortunately, the information in the podcast description for lessons 64 and 65 has been mangled; the lyrics are still fine. I find this an issue since i have an older iPod and cannot see the lyrics, but can access the description.
Again, thank you very much.
因为我也在网路上学,所以这个课程既很有意思,也有用的。

Because I also study online this lesson is both interesting and useful.
Adam, as I have already been learning for a year so far there has been very little in the way of new vocabulary etc. but already this set of lessons is becoming very interesting. I could have understood the dialog if I heard it but not generated it for myself (although I could have manged something similar in meaning and probably a little more basic). It is very useful for me to get these examples of alternative ways to say things. As a happy coincidence no sooner had I listen to this lesson than I had a text chat with a Chinese friend
and she used the word li4hai4, I didn’t know this word before but guessed it was a compliment when I first heard the dialog.
Keep them coming.
For the last 3 lessons, the pinyin dialogue has been corrupt in itunes and on my ipod won’t display properly. Has anyone else has a problem or is it just me?
The Pinyin transcript says:
“Kirin: Nǐ zài nǎlǐ xuéde Zhōngwén?”
“Adam: The de particle there connects the study with the Chinese as in the Chinese that you study” and the mouseover description for the ‘de’ in that sentence says ‘possessive particle’.
Shouldn’t the mouseover description instead say, “Connective particle” or “Action verb qualifier particle” ?
Or is this “possessive” in some Chinese sense that I don’t understand (in which case, the character transcript should have 的 instead of 得) ?
Bazza: There’s definitely a problem there - seems to be there on this lesson too. I’m trying to figure out what I’ve been doing differently in recent lessons vs older ones to fix this problem.
Luobot: Good point - I’ll fix the description to distinguish between the two types.
Hi,
There also seems to be a problem downloading this lesson. It only downloads 281 kb and then quits.
Paul -
I just downloaded the file from the above “Download” link.
Filesize = 9,495 KB.
I’m using the Firefox browser.
A: Nǐ shì zài nǎlǐ xué de Zhōngwén?
Is this an example of the 是。。。的 construction applied to “Nǐ zài nǎlǐ xué Zhōngwén?” for emphasis of location?
That is correct!
