Hi, I have a question on asking if you are hungry. Hola, tengo una pregunta sobre preguntando si tienen hambre. I was recently in Shanghia. Hace poco estuve en Shanghia. Whenever I said “Nǐ dùzi è ma” the Chinese person who was showing me around and was from Zhejiang seemed to be confused. Siempre he dicho "Nǐ dùzi ma è" el chino persona que se muestra en torno a mí y fue de Zhejiang parece estar confundido. She told me to just say “Nǐ è le ma?” Is this common? It’s possible that in some areas, some expressions are more commonly used than others. Es posible que en algunas zonas, algunas expresiones de uso común son más que otros. As far as the meaning goes “Nǐ dùzi è ma?” has a slightly “more hungry” meaning to it (you might say it when someone’s stomach was growling!). En lo que respecta al significado va "Nǐ dùzi ma è?" there seems to be another way to say “yes” in chinese. Parece que hay otra manera de decir "sí" en chino. I was told a couple of times while chatting, that “shì de” means “yes”. Me dijeron un par de veces mientras chatea, que "shì de" significa "sí".

Dui4 means “correct” but is often used in place of “yes” (since there’s no direct word for “yes” in Chinese).
