Hi, I have a question on asking if you are hungry. مرحبا ، عندي سؤال عن مطالبة إذا أنت جائع. I was recently in Shanghia. كنت مؤخرا في shanghia. Whenever I said “Nǐ dùzi è ma” the Chinese person who was showing me around and was from Zhejiang seemed to be confused. كلما قلت "nǐ dùzi ß ماجستير" الصينية الشخص الذي يظهر لي حولها ، وكان من جيجيانغ يبدو ان الخلط. She told me to just say “Nǐ è le ma?” Is this common? وقالت لي ان أقول فقط "nǐ ß جنيه ماجستير؟" هذا هو مشترك؟ It makes more sense coming from English. فهو يجعل اكثر احساسا قادما من الانجليزيه.

It’s possible that in some areas, some expressions are more commonly used than others. فمن الممكن انه في بعض المناطق ، الا تعبيرات هي أكثر شيوعا من غيرها. As far as the meaning goes “Nǐ dùzi è ma?” has a slightly “more hungry” meaning to it (you might say it when someone’s stomach was growling!). وبقدر ما معنى نافلة "nǐ dùzi ß ماجستير؟" قليلا "اكثر الجياع" معني لأنها (قد يقول لك انه عندما كان احدهم بطنه الهدر!).

Hi, مرحبا ،
there seems to be another way to say “yes” in chinese. ويبدو ان هناك طريقة اخرى لنقول "نعم" في الصينية. I was told a couple of times while chatting, that “shì de” means “yes”. قيل لي بضع مرات في حين الدردشه ، ان "shì دي" تعني "نعم".
But I have to second Lina. ولكن لا بد لي الثانية لينا. A great website and a great way to learn. موقع عظيم وطريقة راءعه للتعلم. I don’t know if I’m able to make a real conversation, but at least in MSN oder ICQ I can always impress chinese people… انا لا اعرف اذا انا قادرة على احداث تغيير حقيقي المحادثة ، ولكن على الأقل في ام اس ان اودر ICQ استطيع دائما في أذهان الشعب الصينى…

Hi Frank, مرحبا صريح ،
Dui4 means “correct” but is often used in place of “yes” (since there’s no direct word for “yes” in Chinese). Dui4 يعني "صحيحة" ولكن كثيرا ما يستخدم في مكان "نعم" (حيث لا يوجد المباشر لكلمة "نعم" في الصينية). You are right that “shi4de” is often used to mean “yes” as well. انتم على حق ان "shi4de" غالبا ما يستخدم ليعني "نعم" كذلك. You will see it appear in many later dialogues. سترون انها تظهر في وقت لاحق من كثير من الحوارات. If you want a preview, you can search for shi4de” in the word bank to see where else it appears. اذا كنت ترغب في معاينه ، يمكنك البحث عن shi4de "في كلمة بنك أنظر الى أي مكان آخر يبدو.
