Hello! I will be in China, in Yángshuò, on my birthday this year. Can you please tell me the correct way to say “It’s my birthday today” or “Today is my birthday”. Is it “Wǒde shēngrì shì jīntiān” or “Jīntiān shì wǒde shēngrì”… or would both be acceptable? Thanks!

Hey, you’re good! I like the second one better though.

Xièxie nǐ! I have been practicing so hard - your lessons are fantastic

Hey Naz .. . maybe I will meet you in Yangshuo! I will be in Guilin, Yangshuo and Liuzhou area during the last week of January!
BTW . . how did you get your keyboard to type pinyin characters with proper tones? Please share!

I use external programs to generate the Pinyin then copy and paste them into the site. There are many good commercial programs to help with this, as well as numerous free websites that I can recommend if you would like.

Yes, certain fonts and editing programs have pinyin glyphs, if you know the right shortcut keys… but I find it easier to copy and paste from the text on the website. Sorry, but I won’t be in Yángshuò until May. Wǒde shēngrì shì wǔ yuè yī hào.

BTW: In the pinyin other examples qīshíliù is wrongly translated as 36.

Thanks Frank, I have fixed it now.

I wonder if there’s a mistake here: at the column “Dates” when Adam spoke September 14th. Would it be “jiu yue shi si hao” rather than “jiu yue si shi hao”?

Thanks Phoebe - I’ve since changed it. I’ll set you up with a free week of premium access for your trouble. Send me an email using the Contact Us form if you’re interested.

Ni Hao Adam.
There is a mistake at the New Characters area of this lesson.
You changed the places of the word HÁO. Simplified mode is in Tradicional mode.
Xiéxie ni.
